KL Rahul returns to international cricket after Kofee With Karan controversy

Rahul’s last international match was the fourth Test between India and Australia in Sydney.The suspension was later lifted and the pair was allowed to play in international cricket pending inquiry.While Hardik Pandya rejoined the squad in New Zealand for limited-overs series, Rahul was named in India A squad to face England Lions.Rahul made the most of the opportunity that came his way to lead India A by helping the young side beat England Lions in the second of the two unofficial Tests at the Srikantadatta Narasimha Raja Wadiyar Ground in Mysore earlier this month.KL Rahul led from the front with the bat scoring 81 runs in India A’s first innings. The right-handed batsman stitched a 178-run stand with fellow opener and centurion Abhimanyu Easwaran to box England Lions out of the contest in Mysore. Rahul had also scored 89 runs in the first unofficial Test in Wayanad.Rahul, who averages 43.44 in T20Is, is among the only three Indian cricketers to score centuries in all three formats. The oter two are Suresh Raina and Rohit Sharma.advertisementOn Sunday, India skipper Virat Kohli said the team management wanted to give potential contenders for World Cup squad a few games before taking a final call.”There are people who might be the potential contender for our World Cup squad and we want to give them more game time. KL Rahul will get more game time as he has been out for a while, Shikhar Dhawan has been rested. Umesh Yadav comes in place of Bhuvi. Mayank Markande will play instead of Vijay Shankar,” Kohli said.The second game of the two-match series will be played on February 27 in Bengaluru. The two cricketing giants will also play a five-match one day international series from March 2.
