Weather Eye March was wet expect more of the same for April

first_imgJust a couple of days to go, and we will be in the month of April. We are still waiting for our first 70-degree day, and we might have to wait a few weeks for that milestone at the rate we are going. The weather outlook for the majority of those that have spring break next week is continued clouds and dampness, although we might be subject to April shower syndrome, so we might see some sun breaks, as well.Thursday,March 29, will be quite stormy, especially along the coast, with high winds and a lot of rain. Locally, we should expect a breezy day and maybe an inch of rain by Friday night. An upcoming weather meeting in April might be of interest to many. The Oregon Chapter of the American Meteorological Society will co-host, with Sigma Xi Columbia-Willamette Chapter, a two-hour meeting at Portland State University with Oregon climatologist Phil Mote. The meeting is from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 10 and open to the public.Andreas Schmittner, Oregon State University professor of oceanic and atmospheric sciences, and Christina Hulbe, professor of geology at Portland State University will join Mote as speakers.last_img
